At dawn: a search for chronotopias

In this project I developed a search for dawn, understanding it not as a moment in time but as a place. The concept of chronotopia describes a place made of time (chrono meaning time and topia meaning space). At dawn the world is different. The plants, animals, climate, and even the human condition changes. Dawn gives glimpses of a world that slowly becomes.

The work displays footage of an old property dating from the late 1800’s in Yautepec, Morelos. This place is linked to my personal history because it is where I have seen dawn become a place since I was little. The image quality of the footage allows a floating-like sensation. It conveys the feeling of being inside dawn, a soft and weightless time in space.
